Mrs. Barrow goes to school…

All about my COVID 19 CLASSROOM

The 2020-2021 school year will start virtually for the first time in my lifetime. It is truly unprecedented!

There has been SO MUCH uncertainly and truthfully total chaos on how to begin the school year. Many parents and political leaders feel that students should be in school everyday. However, on the flip side many feel we need to balance the education of students with the health and safety of staff. As a teacher and parent, I truly feel in the middle of the conflict.

We should be in school because…

  • Our kids need CONNECTIONS with their friends, teachers, counselors and coaches
  • Students need the Monday- Friday daily consistency and check in for accountability. The world is pulling them in different directions. Many students lose sight of what is important. Teacher’s daily efforts of reminders and support ensure important goals are met.

My darling daughter Emerson is going to be a SENIOR this year. We are preparing for college applications, ACT and SAT tests, letters of recommendations and college essays. However, as we look towards the future we also look back and celebrate how far these students have come; the things they have accomplished, friends they have made and hardships they have overcome.

My hope and prayer is to move FORWARD and make the choice everyday to be POSITIVE. That is what I have learned most during this quarantine period

WE CAN NOT CONTROL WHAT HAPPENS TO US

but

WE CAN CHOOSE HOW WE WILL RESPOND!
